S.E.A. Aquarium turned one on 23 Nov and with special performances, games and activities planned all the way till 5 Jan 2014, there’s even more reason to visit the Aquarium this month.
1. Mysteries and secrets
Psst. If getting up close with artefacts from a sunken 15th century bakau ship or learning the secrets of marine animals survival interest you, then head to Maritime Archaeology Gallery, hidden on the basement level of The Maritime Experiential Museum, for an eye-opening 30-minute experience. The 1pm session is for shipwreck fanatics, while the 4pm slot is for marine enthusiasts. Weekends only.
2. Magic and music
No, it’s not Incanto meets LightSeeker. But between 2pm and 6.30pm on selected dates, keep your eyes peeled for appearances of street magicians, Christmas carolers, A capella singers and chamber musicians. If you want to catch most of these performances, here’s a tip: visit on 22, 28 or 29 Dec.
3. Hold ‘em, fold ‘em
Try your hands at making Christmas tree tags and origami. Or keep the kids occupied as you take a breather. Go from folding a simple sailboat to the relatively harder seahorse. Visit from 14 Dec onwards if you want to try all three crafting activities. Available throughout the day.
4. Brain freeze, mind tease
Lots of games for the busy-minded. You can solve clues and go on a treasure hunt in Four-in-a-Row or race each other to the finish snakes & ladder-style in the Marine Race. Try to discover all hidden words in 60 seconds for the One Minute Search (and beat the record for the day) or see how good you are with tangrams as you try to reveal the secret scrambled message in Matching Pieces. Available every day, except Matching Pieces (weekends only)
5. Discounted tickets
In Dec, you get 40% off same-day LightSeeker ticket prices (Cat 1 to 3) with your S.E.A. Aquarium pass at the Resorts World Theatre. So after a long day on your feet, sit back and end your day with some action-packed sci-fi musical.
Here’s a schedule of the activities to help plan your visit.
