5 weirdest looking creatures at S.E.A. Aquarium

It’s Halloween, time again for all things strange and peculiar. In the spirit of the season, we take a look at five of the weirdest and creepiest looking inhabitants that you can find at S.E.A. Aquarium, Singapore.

#5 Japanese Spider Crab

With legs spanning four metres in length, this gigantic crab is the stuff of nightmares. But looks are deceiving because this crustacean is really a sheep in wolf’s clothing. Read more here.

#4 Weedy Seadragon

Weedy Seadragon Phyllopteryx taeniolatus
An elongated snout, pouty fused jaws, and weed-like protrusions from its body. But here’s what’s really weird about this seadragon – the dudes get pregnant. Read more here.

#3 Scorpionfish

Scorpionfish
Its leathery fins, skin flaps and mottled pattern make it appear somewhat mouldy or worse, an inconspicuous piece of trash on the sea bed. But the real nightmare lies in those needle-like spines on its dorsal, anal and pelvic fins which can inject venom into potential predators. Read more here.

#2 Japanese Warbonnet

Japanese Warbonnet
Fish with a monkey face, anyone? This bizarre-looking fish doesn’t just have a primate-ish face, it also has an eel-like body, Angelina Jolie’s lips, and what looks like a nasty fungal condition all over its head. Read more here.

#1 Polka-dot Batfish

polka-dot batfish
Weird or creepy doesn’t even begin to describe the Polka-dot Batfish. As if having a perpetually resentful face and a “wart-ridden” body aren’t enough, this fish walks as well. Read more here.

Be sure to check out these “weirdos” the next time you’re at S.E.A. Aquarium!
