Education partnerships are the pillars of today’s innovative learning communities. Here at S.E.A. Aquarium, we have been actively collaborating with education institutes to provide hands-on immersive learning for students and practicing educators.
Nanyang Girls’ High School is one of our partner schools. For the past year, not only have we conducted talks on marine conservation at the school, we have also mentored three teams of students on their school projects. The students learnt more about their subject of interest and how to reach other people with that information.
Many educators have been attached to our aquarium, learning new ways to engage students. They worked alongside our educators at RWS Attractions Education to learn about the educational and aquatic operations in the aquarium. Through these attachments, the aquarium also learnt how to further improve our programmes for students.
S.E.A. Aquarium also offers internship programmes to graduating students from schools like Republic Polytechnic (School of Infocomm and School of Applied Science – Marine Science and Aquaculture), and Wheelock College Singapore. The students are attached to the aquarium to apply their knowledge in real world situations. Here are what some interns had to say of their experience.
Book prize and scholarship
Another of our key partners is Republic Polytechnic. Besides supporting their events like World Water Day where students and staff were invited to a behind-the-scenes tour of our aquarium’s filtration and life support systems, we also provide financial assistance and opportunities to students in the form of book prize and scholarship.
In the coming week, we will share more about the S.E.A. Aquarium scholarship and speak to our first S.E.A. Aquarium scholar Iliya Izzudin from Republic Polytechnic School of Applied Science.
