So 2012 came and went. For some 400 children who gathered at the resort’s waterfront on 29 December last year, the year ended with an important New Year resolution: To save sharks from extinction.
Organised by the Ocean Geographic Society, the event saw young ones aged 5 to 15 initiating the “I am the future, I will not eat shark fins” pledge, with the hope that they can inspire the public in Singapore and communities in Asia to stop the consumption of shark fins soup.
The Celebrate the Sea Children Art competition, already in its 11th year, was also held at the event. Art pieces were created to influence and inspire protection for our ocean environment. Enjoy these pictorial highlights from the event!
