If you’ve always wanted to learn to SCUBA dive but have a busy work schedule and can’t find time to travel overseas, you can do so at S.E.A. Aquarium. The Aquarium offers a PADI Open Water Diver course which certifies you for open water diving.
What’s more, you’ll be diving in the Open Ocean Habitat as part of your course. Did you know that the Open Ocean Habitat is certified as a full open water dive site because of its total size and water movement and volume?
What’s included in the PADI Open Water Diver course?
The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:
- Knowledge Development to understand basic principles of scuba diving. This will be conducted online at your own pace, at least four weeks before the start of your practical session.
- Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills. Practical session that is conducted in a 1.5m to 4m pool at Adventure Cove Waterpark.
- Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore the sea, in this case the 12m Open Ocean Habitat at S.E.A. Aquarium.
How long is the PADI Open Water Diver course at S.E.A. Aquarium?
It takes around six weeks from registration to completion of the course.
The knowledge development phase is conducted through the PADI eLearning system on a computer or tablet. You can learn at your own pace at home. We recommend doing it in a span of four weeks before your first practical session so you can learn comfortably.
Do note that you will need to complete and pass this before the dive sessions.
The actual practical dive sessions (Confined Water Dives and Open Water Dives) take place over two weeks which include 2 Saturdays and 1 Sunday.
Week 1: Saturday and Sunday 8.30am to 6.00pm
Week 2: Saturday 8.30am to 6.00pm
Who will be teaching the PADI Open Water Diver course at S.E.A. Aquarium?
The instructors are divers from S.E.A. Aquarium, who are all certified PADI Instructors.
You will learn in small groups with much higher than recommended ratios, which means you will get more attention and help and ultimately will be a better, safer diver at the end of the course. A dive school can have a ratio of 1:8 but at S.E.A. Aquarium the ratios are much less.
How much is the PADI Open Water Diver course at S.E.A. Aquarium?
The cost of the course is S$548. This includes all learning materials (PADI eLearning system), certification, all dives and equipment.
You will save on transportation cost, travelling time and accommodation cost by getting your PADI Open Water certificate right here in Singapore instead of travelling overseas.
