Our popular Shark Seas Habitat now has an adjoining exhibition area that showcases a plethora of shark-related information and exhibits. This is an on-going exhibition and is included in your S.E.A. Aquarium admission.
This spacious area right before the Shark Seas tunnel is literally filled from wall to wall with awe-inspiring facts, replicas and models about these majestic apex predators.
All these shark facts were provided by James Cook University, one of the world’s leading institutions for shark research. Click here to learn more about their work with sharks.
A key contributor of these shark facts is Professor Colin Simpfendorfer who has been researching sharks for over 25 years, and has published many scientific literature on shark biology, ecology, fisheries and conservation. His expertise on sharks has been recognized by his appointment as the Co-Chair of the IUCN’s Shark Specialist Group. Come February 2018, Professor Simpfendorfer will be speaking about sharks at our new speaker series called Science in the SEAA by JCU. More details will be shared in the coming weeks.
