Start Small Dream Big: Protecting Singapore’s Natural Heritage

The ‘Start Small Dream Big’ initiative was started by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA). Through this platform, children will be able to innovate, problem solve and tap on their strengths to help others.

In 2018, the S.E.A. Aquarium partnered with two preschool centres, Eshkol Valley Preschool and PPIS Pasir Ris Child Development Centre to learn more about Marine Conservation. Our conservation team went down to both schools to conduct interactive sharing sessions with the children, shedding light on the effects of plastic pollution. Children ended their Start Small Dream Big projects at the Ocean Festival held at the S.E.A. Aquarium where they participated in an eco fashion show and a showcase of their hand-drawn reusable tote bags.

This year in 2019, S.E.A. Aquarium is proud to be an official SSDB partner and the theme for our learning resources is ‘Protecting Singapore’s Natural Heritage – Reduction of Single Use Plastics’. Using a See, Think, Wonder activity, children will build up ideas based on the poster images provided in order to help save the marine animals and the environment. These ideas will then allow the class to find out what projects they will be keen to embark on.

A learning resource package has been created for educators who are keen to work on this topic for their SSDB projects in class. Educators that have received the S.E.A. Aquarium Teacher Resource Guide may download the posters and activity cards available through this link: ‘Start Small Dream Big S.E.A. Aquarium Learning Resources 2019’
