World Animal Day event: celebrating animals and animal welfare at S.E.A. Aquarium

On 18 October 2017, about 100 participants attended S.E.A. Aquarium’s monthly event where guest speakers shared fascinating facts about animal welfare, as well as responsible ways to keep animals at home and how to choose a suitable one for the family.

Ms Chong Poh Choo, Manager of Community Outreach at the Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA). She educated the audience on responsible pet ownership through a fun yet thought-provoking presentation.
Dr Chris Torno, a vet with the S.E.A. Aquarium, shared lesser known facts about caring for marine animals, such as providing the best water quality and best possible food for our animals to create a happy and healthy environment.
During the Q&A session, young participants eagerly answered questions posted by our guest speakers.
Mai the Manta Ray delighted participants with a special appearance.

The highlight of the evening was a recycling craft competition. Participants had to create marine animals using the provided materials such as egg cartons and empty bottles – all within 20 minutes.

No time wasted in fleshing out their ideas.
