You’re in for a treat at S.E.A. Aquarium’s Lunar New Year-themed programme Gong Sea Fa Cai. The Aquarium is bringing in goldfish displays, an underwater dragon dance, kids-friendly activities and more.
Be sure to visit us from 23 January to 22 February so you can catch these activities:
See special goldfish exhibition
There’ll be a special goldfish exhibition with habitats filled with goldfish in auspicious numbers. You’ll find unique species such as the Oranda, Ryukin, Calico and Sarasa comet.
Why the goldfish? Goldfish are seen as the creators of prosperity in Chinese culture because of their lucky name. Find out other facts about this popular pet fish.
Watch the Underwater Dragon dance
Don’t miss the underwater dragon dance happening at Open Ocean Habitat at 11am, 2pm, 4.30pm. Although the underwater dragon looks like it’s gliding effortlessly in the water, it’s not an easy dance. Find out how our divers achieve this feat.
Can’t wait to see it live? Here’s a video of the underwater dragon dance last year.
Lunar New Year-themed marine animals at the Discovery Touch Pool
You’ll find Lunar New Year-related marine animal at the Discovery Touch Pool. How often do you get to tell people you’ve touched a live sea star or abalone? Come over and you’ll get a chance to feel these for yourself:
- Ass’s-ear Abalone
- Black Sea cucumber
- Knobberly Sea Star
- Vannamei Shrimp
For the kids
Don’t miss the Monkey Mission where kids can learn about the 12 marine animals that share the same name as the Chinese zodiac on the Monkey Mission. (Yes, there’s a Monkeyfish–the arowana.)
Kids can learn to make fish out of red packets at the arts and craft corner. There are also photo opportunities with the cute Manta Mascot.
Other activities happening include calligraphy writing by a master on weekends and a chance to win prizes by spinning the Mani and Pin Wheels.
